Before booking an appointment with the GP - try eConsult

The eConsult system allows you to securely message our practice to ask for medical advice. Our clinicians will then be able to reply to you by the end of the next working day at the latest. You may not even need to come in for an appointment.

We operate an appointment system and aim that you will be able to obtain an appointment within two days with a doctor and within one day with another health care professional.

Urgent or emergency cases will be seen on the same day; however we ask that you telephone as early as possible after 08:30 for a morning appointment and 16:00 for an evening appointment, so that suitable arrangements can be made to see you.

Speaking to a Doctor or a Nurse on the Telephone

Interruptions during consultations are upsetting for both doctors and patients so we have certain “set times” that the doctors and nurses will phone you back. These are usually at the end of surgery for non-urgent cases, or in the case of the “triage” doctor for that morning usually about 10:30 for urgent issues.

Note: Please leave an accurate telephone number that will help Doctors and Nurses to get in contact with you and please be available to take the call to prevent any delay.

Extended Hours

The practice runs extended hours for patients who are unable to attend between 08:00 and 18:30 – (i.e. work out of the area, leave work late, childcare, caring or cared for by people). These appointments can be booked direct with a GP, and are available at Cranborne on a Monday and Tuesday between 18:30 – 20:00 and on a Wednesday at Lake Road Surgery between 18:30 - 20:00.

The Practice also runs Nurse led clinics at Lake Road Surgery on Saturdays twice a month from 9am - 12pm.

Booking Appointments Online

We offer the ability for patients to book appointments online, which means you can book an appointment 24/7 without having to phone the surgery.  Please note the appointments offered are routine GP appointments only and due to current COVID safety requirements are telephone appointments.

To access the appointments online please login using your SystmOnline login, which is the same login details as the online repeat prescription requests. If you don’t have a SystmOnline login, please email with a photo or scan of your ID (driving license preferably as it has address) and then the Practice will email back the log in details.

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else, or if you registered to use SystmOnline, you can cancel your appointment using SystmOnline, this must be done 1 hour before your appointment time. With our new automated text message service you can also cancel appointments from a text message appointment reminder by replying CANCEL.

If you would like a chaperone present during your consultation, then please advise the Receptionist when booking your appointment or when checking in.
