Seasonal Vaccinations
Spring COVID-19 vaccinations - updated March 16th 2026
Our Spring COVID-19 vaccination clinics will start in mid-April.
Because the Spring eligible group is smaller and we’ll have building work underway at our bungalow, we’ve made a few changes to how we’ll deliver the vaccines this time.
What you need to know:
· All clinics will be held inside the main surgery this season. We won’t be running the drive-through, so our team will see you indoors!
· The NHS is offering the vaccine to those most at risk, including:
- Adults aged 75 and over (by 30 June 2026).
- Residents in older adult care homes.
- Anyone aged 6 months and over with a weakened immune system.
We have texted eligible patients with details on how to book online, but you can also call us on 01202 822825 or 01725 517272 or pop into the Lake Road Surgery to book a clinic appointment.
It’s not too late to protect yourself from flu!
We still have stock of flu vaccines, so protect yourself now!
Keep yourself and your loved ones protected - winter flu vaccines remain available at our practice until March 31st.
You can get the free NHS flu vaccine if you:
- are aged 65 or over
- have certain long-term health conditions
- are pregnant
- live in a care home
- are the main carer for an older or disabled person, or receive a carer's allowance
- live with someone who has a weakened immune system
Getting vaccinated helps protect you, your loved ones, and our community — and reduces pressure on NHS services during a very busy season.
Please call us on 01202 822825 or 01725 517272 and we’ll book an appointment with a member of our nursing team.
Seasonal vaccinations: Winter flu and COVID-19
Flu and COVID-19
Every year, the NHS offers vaccinations to help protect those most at risk from winter viruses. Protection from these vaccines fades over time, and the viruses themselves change, which is why it is important to get your seasonal “top-up.”
Who is eligible?
You are encouraged to get vaccinated as early as possible in the season if you are:
- An older adult (usually 65 and over).
- Pregnant.
- A young child.
- A carer.
- Living with certain health conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease).
The Flu Vaccine (Influenza)
For most people, the flu is very unpleasant, but for some, it can be life-threatening.
- When to get it: The season runs from September to March. We aim to vaccinate most people before December, before the flu spreads most widely.
- The Benefit: It protects you from getting seriously ill and helps reduce pressure on the NHS.
The COVID-19 Vaccine
The COVID-19 virus can still cause serious illness. Because the virus changes, a seasonal booster is the best way to keep your protection high.
- When to get it: The NHS usually offers these boosters in the Spring and early Winter.
- The Benefit: It significantly reduces your risk of needing to go to the hospital and helps you recover much faster if you do catch the virus.
